Your Man in Samui

Chris Mills

For Chris, establishing Samui Luxury Boats back in 2015 was a dream come true. With a successful career in hospitality and communication for leading global brands such as American Express, Amazon, and BP, Chris was looking for his next big challenge. Having grown up on the outskirts of London and spending his professional career in the city, Chris was ready for change.

First settling in Thailand back in 2012, with an open mind, Chris quickly realised there was an opportunity for a high-quality boat charter solution in Koh Samui. Building key relationships with the best boat operators and finest crews, and initially spending several years as a private yacht manager, Chris became a knowledgeable and experienced tour guide. Chris then established Samui Luxury Boats and is happily charting a course into the 2nd decade of operations.

Samui Luxury Boats’ crews are lucky enough to witness some of the world’s most beautiful seas, corals, and marine life through our work. There is a wealth of stunning life under our boats and we benefit from this every day. It is in our best interest to preserve and support our environment.

To ensure this, we work with our captains to ensure minimal impact and request our visitors to carry out whatever they carry in. Chris’ passion for the environment and marine life has ensured support for various projects around Koh Samui for the preservation of our delicate marine ecosystem.

Questions

What's the best itinerary?

We know how exciting it is to explore the best routes, discover new activities, find the most pristine beaches, and experience vibrant marine life while snorkeling in crystal-clear waters. We understand your desires, and we’re here to help you bring them to life. Share your aspirations with us, and rest assured that we’ll tailor the experience to match your preferences.

Our goal is to get to know you—whether it’s understanding your preferred activities, your group’s capabilities, how far you’re willing to travel, or your favorite foods and drinks.

While we strive to offer you the exact itinerary and vessel you request, please note that there are occasions when we may need to adjust your plans due to weather conditions. For example, if you’ve booked a trip to Ang Thong National Marine Park but the weather is ideal for visiting Koh Tao, we may offer you an upgrade to a more suitable itinerary, adjusting the rate accordingly.

In cases where weather conditions are safe but not ideal, we’ll work quickly to suggest an alternative route, ensuring you avoid the disappointment of cancellations. Any cost difference would be refunded or paid upfront, depending on the changes made. Similarly, in the rare event of a last-minute technical issue with your vessel, we’re usually able to quickly find a suitable replacement.

Ultimately, the weather will always guide the best route. The islands themselves create natural shelter from the wind, so while one side of an island may be windy, the other could offer calm waters. We’ll make recommendations 2-3 days before your trip, based on the weather forecast and the Captain’s advice, especially during this time of year.

For example, if there are large waves between Koh Samui and Koh Phangan, we might suggest avoiding the crossing to Koh Phangan (if you’re departing from the northeast of Koh Samui) and instead explore the calm bays and beaches along the northern coast of Koh Samui.

Is it possible to book a half day tour to Ang Thong National Marine Park?

Everything is possible given the right weather conditions and managed expecations.

A full day 8 hour charter booking is required even if only going there for 30 minutes to take photos and come back (depending on whether reaching Koh Wao for snorkeling or Koh Wao Tulap for the Emerald Lagoon and panoramic viewpoint)

The most efficent way is by speedboat or motor yacht with an average journey time of approximately 70-90 minutes each way.

We can reduce the tour time to between 4 and 6 hours if no snorkeling is required.

– Speedboat depart from north east Koh Samui.

– Motor Yacht depart from south west Koh Samui.

In both cases local departures can be arranged at additional cost.

For those motor catamaran which are based on the north east coast of Koh Samui this same route takes 3-4 hours each way (depending on conditions and exact destination at Ang Thong – note there is only snorkeling in the north at Koh Wao)

For those motor catamaran based on the south west coast this journey is slightly shorter.

We can also combine visiting viewpoints at Ang Thong and Koh Tao in the same day (only by speedboat or motor yacht) however please be advised there is a significant additional fuel and engine hours surcharge. Please feel welcome to contact us for a quotation.

How can I see the prices and inclusions?

Please browse our website catalog and submit an inquiry

Inform us of your approximate budget, preference for boat type and the number of guests in your group

We can then recommend you the best speed boat or motor yacht – most suitable for Ang Thong National Marine Park or Koh Tao due to journey times (80-90 minutes each way)

Or suggest the most suitable catamaran or sailing yacht – ideal for cruises around Koh Samui or Koh Phangan with less tourists and more unspolit nature

It’s helpful for us to know your budget or the best rate you have seen elsewhere so we can ensure that our offering is what you need.

Our Prices & Inclusions are available via our WhatsApp Catalog or our Online Brochure

You will find categories for each boat type, you can click view on each boat/yacht and then see more for all of the details.

Please feel welcome to message us on WhatsApp or email us for any specific boat prices or quotations.

What are the journey times between islands?

Please take a look at our interactive map to learn more about the journey times from Koh Samui to the various destinations

High specification speed boat and motor yacht typically cruise at speeds 2-3 times faster than sailing by catamaran or sailing yacht.

There is limited snorkeling (lack of marine life and ocean visibility) close by to Koh Samui, therefore it is important to understand the necessary journey times and allow us to advise you the best itinerary.

Google MyMaps by Samui Luxury Boats (link opens in new window)

Travelling by speed boat or motor yacht, departing from north east Koh Samui with average cruising speeds of 22-28 knots:

– Koh Phangan (snorkeling spot – north west at Koh Raham/Koh Ma) – Approximately 45-50 minutes in average conditions

– Koh Tan (snorkeling spot – south Koh Samui) – Approximately 45-50 minutes in average conditions

– Ang Thong National Marine Park (snorkeling spot – north at Koh Wao) – Approximately 80-85 minutes in average conditions

– Koh Tao & Nangyuan Island (snorkeling spot – north west at Koh Nangyuan) – Approximately 90 minutes in average conditions

Please note for Sailing Yacht or Catamaran, cruising at 8-10 knots takes 2 or 3 times longer so better to stay closer to Koh Phangan and around Samui unless considering overnight tours.

For the Ang Thong National Marine Park a 9-10 hour charter is required in suitable conditions (2 -3.5 hours each way is possible depending on ocean conditions – therefore itinerary can change to suit your preferences) Koh Tao & Nanguyan would lake 4+ hours from Koh Samui by catamaran or sailing yacht.
